Description:
Easily located spindle of light at low power. Bright center and
fainter outer halo.

At 203X NGC 7331 has a very nright center surrounded by a bright
elongated halo. The spiral arms were seen as two faint extended areas
of diffuse light with the northern arm more readily visible than the
southern. There was a hint of a rift in the outer halo on the western
side that could be a dustlane but more likely just an illusionary
effect.

A slight glimpse of Stepahn's Quintet nearby was suspected but no
positive ID could be made.
