Description:
At 47x three stars in the form of a triangle were easily visible. At 119x the
fourth (m 11.9) became visible as well. The form of M73 is clearly 'Y'-
shaped. Unless his telescope was of a mediocre quality, it is strange that
Messier would have made the mistake of seeing this object as an open cluster.
I have seen no sign of background stars or nebulosity. It is clearly an
asterism.
