Personal "rating" this aperture: B-
My observation (twice in the past 10 days) does not
match the listing in the Orion Deep Sky Catalog in that
this appeared to me to be an edge on.. they list it
as a spiral with a hint of a dark lane.
This edge-on appeared to be long , almost pencil-thin,
with a long core embedded within, and somewhat mottled,
perhaps there are dark lanes like M82.
PerhapsI was viewing the brightest "part" of the galaxy which
made it appear edge-on, with it's long core and two extentions.
However, just below the galaxy off one of it's two extensions is
an approximately 14th magnitude star. Pretty at all mags. but
best at medium-high power, towards 190x to help bring out
variation in the core and darken the background sky against
the weak extensions.
