Description:
Steve Clougherty and I took the clear skies tonight as an opportunity to
return to this our perennial favorite among galaxy clusters: in the 20",
Peg I never fails to show a nice arrangement of moderately faint galaxies,
frequently reminiscent of silver dust glimmering on a background of black
velvet, when seen under dark skies. Tonight the skies of the South Shore
of Massachusetts were more than dark enough! Sadly the logs of individual
galaxies from this fine night have been lost since 1998. What follows is
a simple listing of galaxies definitely seen in Peg I - but ONLY those in
which we were definitely able to observe some evidence of structure. Thus
inclusion in the following list indicates that evidence of morphology CAN
be seen in a galaxy with a 20", under transparent, steady exurban skies:
