Description:
Fills whole field, outline of bright stars like an upside-down Christmas Tree
in right-reading view with two bright stars at apex and base. At "base" of tree
lies S Mon, incredible region of concentrated stars, nebula seen when scope is
moved east, showing margin of the bright glow, not much detail, cone neb not
seen tonight,nebular (UHC) filters worthless, only darkens everything. At apex
bright star STF 954 a fine white and blue double. A wonderful region, could use
lower x or wider field.
Just south of apex of "Christmas Tree" is the fantasically beautiful double
star STF 953, orange and blue, pure vivid colors, like Albireo but better in
this instrument, with myriad background stars.
Between storms, lots of dew, hard to keep eyepieces from fogging.
