Description: A wonderfully strange large diffuse object, it is an elongated
oval condensed toward the centre, which covers much of a 12 mm eyepiece
field. The bright core is elongated and oval with a stellar nucleus glimpsed
in steady spells. It runs roughly east/west. Using averted vision and
covering the unused eye helped to see the dark patch below the nucleus,
which extended round to the east like a dark lane. A magnitude 13.8 star at
the following end of the galaxy can be seen during steady intervals.
