Description:
This PN is superimposed on an open cluster, M46 (NGC2437).
55X - Very faint. Almost lost in the sky glow. Not visable with O-III filter.
138.5X Faint round PN surrounded by 11-13 mag stars numbered in the hundreds. NGC2438 is faint, but easily seen. It responds well to the O-III filter. It is dimmed, but the cluster stars are almost extinuished.
314X - The PN responds well to to the O-III filter and magnification. The NW
side appears fainter than the remainder of the disk. I can't determine if there
is annularity because the central region is slightly washed out by the 13-14
mag central stsr.
