Description:
203X - Ngc is an edge on Galaxy of dim surface brightness (NSOG;SB=13.7v).
It appears as a faint streak of light with a long brighter core with a star at the center line of the core, but at the edge of the obscuring lane. On the south side of the dust lane is a much dimmer parallel streak of light which is the southern bulge of the core protruding beyond the dust lane. This would suggest that the galaxy is not quite edge on, but tilted just 2-3 degrees to the north. With averted vision, the ansi extend out quite far, but the dust lane is not decernable much past the core. On several observation that I have made of this object, the dust lane does not appear to be exactly parallel to the brightnes of the core and halo. Could this indicate a warped galaxy?
