Description:
117X - NGC7142 is quite small consisting of 8 stars in an inverted 'V'.
The bright star in the western leg of the V is an 10.17 mag field star.
The nearby field is aglow with 12-14 mag stars with long zig-zag strings
to the west, are much more interesting than the NGC7142 cluster.
Sky Map Pro references NGC7142 to be 4.3. The Night Sky Observers Guide;
vol. 1, Page 140 indicates 3.4 as the size, but then talks about 60 stars
in a rough oval 12' long? Luginbuhl references it's size to be 12' in
diameter. Burnham's Celestial Handbook; Vol 1; Page 580 references NGC7142
to be 10' with about 50 stars of 11 to 15 mag.
