Description:
Blanco 1 is a very large open cluster that rides low in the sky for mid-latitude
northern hemisphere observers. It is a sprawling group of stars, some of which
are rather bright, that has fifth magnitude Zeta Sculptoris as its northwestern
boundary. To my eyes the brighter stars of the cluster formed a pattern
resembling a trident. This object is best viewed with rich-field telescopes and
binoculars.
