Constellation: Ophiuchus
Data: mag 8 size 4'
Position: RA 17:16 DEC 18:28
Description:
At 44x M9 looks very faint and very small. At 118x and 178x I could not see any detail at all. M9 is so faint and so small that it was easy to miss especially at 44x (low power field). But south-west of this cluster are three bright stars that curve and point to the cluster. These three stars can help locate M9 because they are bright and easy to find. The three stars and M9 fit in my 1 degree field at 44x.
