Description:
At 100x (20mm Ultrascopic, 30' tfov), Messier 52 is a large, nearly circular,
15' group displaying a wide range of magnitudes to the edge of resolution. It
is moderately concentrated and well detached from the field (easily visible in
the 9x60 finder). About 70 stars were seen. The cluster lucida sits near the
east edge. A long, 2' to 3' wide void stretches E/W across the south central
area of the cluster. At 50x (40mm Optiluxe, 1.2d tfov): With the 2", 40mm
eyepiece, Czernik 43 can be seen just to the south of M52. It's a very nice,
panoramic view.
