Description:
(Observed in astronomical darkness, no real darkness yet in Finland)

The open cluster NGC 281 contains 9 or more stars from 7th to 10th magnitude and a lots of fainter ones down to 13th magnitude.
Some stars are gathered around the brightest 7th magnitude star, but generally it is scattred and loose.

The nebulosity is very easy to spot with O-III filter, but shows no signs without filter. The brightest part of the nebulosity can be found in the NW side of the object. Faint nebulous streaks are visible in the S and N ends.
Nebulosity was spotted even with 4cm Refractor and O-III filter.
