Description:
488X-NGC4676 appeard as a faint green-gray oval with a streamer arcing
southward that created a tadpole appearance.The oval was sharply bounded and
evenly bright. The streamer or tail appeared almost as bright as the oval where
they joined, but gradually faded away at the southern extremety. Not quite
touching is another oval to the north. This second oval is about the same
brightness as the southern one but it's tail is very faint and appears as
another oval to the north. It was originally mistaken to be another galaxy, but
closer examination suggest that it is a tail of spiral arm or a mass ejected by
the galaxies interactiion. The observation was necessarily brief, only a couple
of minutes duration, but it is an experience to be rembered.
