Class:
Constellation: UMa
Data: mag 11.3p size 6.3' X 5.0'
Position: RA 09:20 DEC +64:06
Description:
At 36x the appearance is that of a slightly out of focus star. At 68x the
nucleus is elliptical with slight elongation NW-SE. The core is bright, almost
stellar. In fleeting moments of atmospheric stability, the N. edge of the
halo appears to be slightly brighter than the S. edge. Subsequent examination
of the Digitized Sky Survey shows a brighter spiral arm in this position. The
galaxy did not bear magnification well. At higher powers it began to fade into
the background with only the core remaining cleary visible. Best seen at 72x.
