Description:
At 145x (12.5mm Ultima, 21' true field), Gx NGC 2787 was elongated N/S about
2.5'x1.5'. A near-stellar core is surrounded by a bright, roundish, 1'
diameter central area. The fainter envelope fades rather quickly to the north
and south. A very faint field star is 1' south of the nucleus. This Gx is on
the Herschel 400 list.
I seem to have gotten my directions off - still getting used to the dob.
According to MegaStar5, NGC 2787 is actually oriented to the NW/SE. The "very
faint field star" is actually 2' NW of the nucleus and seems to be mag. 14.9.
