Description: at 211 & 400x, medium sized galaxy, quite bright,
between oval and spindle-shaped, about 2.3'x0.8' according to a NW-SE
axis, but with ill-defined edges; brighter central area about 0.8' in
diameter; dark lane difficult to perceive at 211x (less difficult at
400x), about 1' long and very sharp (less than 6" in width), less
than 25% of the time and incomplete in length as it is nearly
impossible to catch near the nucleus; the galaxy must be about
B-type; a 13th mag. star is 3.6' to the south.

I can provide a scanned drawing of NGC 7814 to anyone who can read
the binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(yann.pothier@fnac.net), it works quite often with other
configurations...
