Description:
I tried to target some of the few faint galaxies that reside in the background
of M44. As the conditions were not perfect I succeeded only with one galaxy
using 244x magnification – 14,6mag UGC4526, which was visible only with averted
vision as a featureless faint spot south of the center of M44 after a long
search with the help of a THE SKY printout. Under perfect conditions more
galaxies should turn up. I was not 100% certain if I had seen NGC 2637
(15,2mag) near the center of M44. At 244x there seemed to be an almost star-
like extremely faint spot whenever I crossed the area with averted vision.
