Category: External galaxy.
Class:
Constellation: Eri
Data: mag various size various
Position: RA : DEC :
Description:
Gx, 11,7 – 12,9mag, Eri. At 244x all 4 galaxies easily fit into the FOV as they
are in a 9’ circle. The brightest member is 1723 (11,7mag) located ~9’ north of
the close triplet 1721,25,28. It is located in a triangle of 10 – 11mag stars.
1723 shows a bright wide core and a slightly oval halo elongated E – W. 1721 is
the brightest of the triplet that builds an E – W arc and shows a distinct
brighter core. 1725 and 28 show faint central brightening and appear almost
round. 1728 is the smallest and faintest and appears as a long N – S oval. All
three are of similar brightness (12,3 – 12,9mag) and easy to observe as they
have a fairly high surface brightness. Very nice group that attracts me more
than the much fainter Stephan’s Quintet.
