Description:
Under very clear skies I did identify a few members of the Perseus I cluster
(Abell 426) using 342x magnification. I did only concentrate this time on the
central eastern part of the cluster around NGC 1275.
NGC1281: 13,3mag, very faint, close to a 10,5mag star.
NGC1277/78: 13,5/12,4mag pair. Brighter 1278 has a bright core.
NGC1275: 11,9mag, Bright and very extended wide halo around a diffuse core.
NGC1273: 13,2mag, faint, small and featureless.NGC1274: 14,1mag, faint and very
small.
M+07-07-061: 15,1mag, very faint and small, close N to a triangle of 14m stars.
NGC1272: 11,8mag, quite faint for the brightness it features. Elongated without
any detail. Low surface brightness.
NGC1279: 16,6mag v, extremely faint. Pops into the eye only on AV. Most difficult and faintest target that I could discern. I did correctly mark its
location without the use of a map!
IC1907: 14,9mag, very faint without any detail.
PGC12451: 16,3mag, very faint at averted vision. E of 1278 I did see more than
those galaxies but I did not draw an accurate map of those.
