Description:
At 342x this enormous edge-on galaxy is spanning through the whole FOV (12’) of
the 5mm Nagler!! Several knots are visible along this low-surface-brightness
galaxy. The brightest knot appears as a 2’ long bar located just E of the 12mag
star that’s located N of the galaxy’s center. Another bright knot (~1’ long) is
visible S of the center. The W part of 4631 is extending out to a 14mag star
and is thinner than and not as bright as the wider E part. One more knot is
visible at the height of NGC4627.The E part is not extending as far from the
center. It shows one 2’ long bar at the NE edge. The faint companion NGC 4627
(12,4magv) appears as a 1’ long oval patch with no detail. At 342x it requires
AV to be visible.
