Category: Planetary nebula.
Class:
Constellation: Hya
Data: mag 12,4 v size 268"
Position: RA : DEC :
Description:
At 78x extremely faint even with the OIII filter. I could find the planetary
only with the help of a map and a sketch in the Night Sky Observer’s Guide. At
higher magnifications without OIII the object is not visible. At 78x the ring
structure is faintly visible. The outer edge of the ring fades away as the
inner part of the planetary is not completely dark. The nebula is located in a
star-pattern that resembles a Mercedes-star with the star in the center imposed
on the western edge of the ring. Those stars are of 12-13mag. Very difficult
object under less than ideal conditions.
