Description:
Stunning even at 131x. The dark lane is easily visible at that magnification.
At 342x the slightly curved dark lane can be followed all along the S edge of
the galaxy. North of the lane is the very bright small core surrounded by the
inner bright halo of the galaxy. South of the lane the faint outer part of the
central bulge is visible against the dark background sky. The whole galaxy
spans out over some 6x3’. No details are visible within the galaxy or its
prominent dark lane. 1’ N of the galaxy’s core a 13mag star is visible. Very
spectacular Object!
