Object(s): NGC 5897
Category: Globular cluster.
Class:
Constellation: Lib
Data: mag 8,6v size 12,6'
Position: RA : DEC :
Description:
At 131x this huge globular cluster easily resolves into some 20 stars around its edge. It appears approx 8’ in diameter with almost no central brightening. At 342x I could see 30+ stars of <14mag. Interestingly there is hardly any stars resolved in the center of this loose globular. 5897 appears brighter than the extremely faint NGC5053. NGC 5897 resembles NGC 5466 a little bit.
