Description:
A uniform oval halo elongated nearly N-S.  It gradually brightens to
a fairly bright, diffuse core.  A 12th magnitude field star is just
off the E. edge.  Visible with averted vision at 77x, it was best seen
at 257x.  The galaxy is located 10' N. of NGC1587/NGC1588.
