Description:
A faint, uniform, elongated oval nebulous patch, aligned NE-SW.  It shows no
detectable brightening toward the core.  Visible with averted vision at 128x,
it was best seen at 193x and began to fade into the background at 257x.  An
8th magnitude field star lies 9' NE.  There is an 11th magnitude field star
just off the N. edge.  The galaxy is located 20' SW of NGC1638 and was
unexpectedly picked up during a reobservation of NGC1638.
