Description:
In Ophiuchus, at ~ 1¾° W of M19. Compared to NGC 6284, NGC 6293 is much easier
to locate because brighter and best located for reference stars. It's great
brightness makes it practically visible with direct vision. Compared with M19,
NGC 6293 is reduces in size and shows a high degree of concentration. A very
weak luminous halo surrounds the core and it is not stellar in appearance. As
the object is low-size, NGC 6294, a double star just E of the object, remains
invisible. M19 and NGC 6284 in the same FOV.
