Data: mag 8.4 size 3.5'
Position: RA 17:23.6 DEC -17:49
Description:
In Ophiuchus, at ~ 1¼° of M9. This object is observed very easily at
binoculars. It seems compact. Oddly, the halo surrounding it is wider than
other globular clusters in Ophiuchus and of comparable size. The wide halo
gives the impression of globular having a weak concentration, which is not the
case. NGC 6356 presents a stellar core 40% of the time. M9 in the same FOV.
