To determine the best placed star fields to use from your location:
enter your latitude, longitude and UT date and time.
click the Locate Fields Nearest Zenith button.
the program will then generate three star fields based on the International Meteor Organization's star count areas. An image of the star field is provided that also serves as a link to a larger image of the field.
NOTE: You must run this script again after viewing larger images - ie. you must click the Locate Fields Nearest Zenith button to refresh the page, otherwise, you will get an error.
To determine the limiting magnitude using the star count method:
enter the number of stars counted for each of the three fields.
the program will then provide a limiting magnitude for each field, as well as an average limiting magnitude for all three.
note that you may use only one or two of the fields with the same results.
