Perseid Results For Aug 9/10, 1996

Last night I observed meteors for 7 hours from Descanso, Calif. under clear
6.0 skies. Perseid activity has definitely increased. I recorded a total of
103 meteors...of which 49 were Perseids. 3 Alpha Capricornids, 8 Kappa
Cygnids, 9 S. Delta Aquarids, 3 N. Delta Aquarids, 3 S. Iota Aquarids, and 26
Sporadics.

I've noted a relative lack of brite Perseids compared to the previous night
with a -3, -2, -1, -1, -1. Perseid activity didn't kick in until around 2h30
Local time (9h30 UT). It was as if a sudden clump of material was
encountered then. The following periods of activity were noted. All times are
Universal Time.
4h26-5h26 = 1 CAP, 1 SIA, 1 Spor
5h26-6h26 = 2KCP, 4 PER, 2 Spor
6h26-7h26 = 2CAP, 1SDA, 1SIA, 4 Spor
7h26-8h26 = 6PER, 2KCG, 3SDA, 3Spor
8h26-9h26 = 4 PER, 2SDA, 1NDA, 4Spor
9h26-10h26 = 20 PER, 2SDA, 1NDA, 1SIA, 10 Spor
10h26-11h42 = 28 PER, 2NDA, 1SDA, 1SIA, 4KCG, 12 Spor

Tonights observations may be iffy...Tropical clouds from Mexico just arrived
at sunrise...Don't know if this will be a problem tonight or not? If it's
clear...I will be out observing.
