(meteorobs) Archive Resend: Hale-Bopp 3/10

The comet continues to be a remarkable site. It stands out quite well low
in the evening sky with a 2 degree tail, while the morning sky view shows
an ion tail stretching across 13 degrees. Only the dust tail is visible to
the naked eye in the evening sky, but my reflector showed the ion tail
rather easily. Although I continue to take photographs using 28mm, 50mm,
and 205mm lenses, I am also continuing to draw the comet every chance I
get. I am posting all of my drawings on a special page on my web site. The
direct address is

I am replacing all of the big pictures with clickable thumbnails, so that
it comes up quicker. There have been no condensations since late February,
and I believe these were probably resolution artifacts rather than real
condensations. Interestingly, as the latest drawings show, a new hood has
developed.
