(meteorobs) July 7 Observations
-- [ From: Robert Lunsford * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] --
I observed for 3 hours 35 minutes this morning with George from the
Descanso Observatory. I counted 46 meteors in that span. There were 3
meteors that came from an area consistent with the calculated radiant
for the Perseids (356 +51). This is what you would expect from the
normal sporadic background so I am convinced they were sporadics. The
Caps and Sagittarids were active early in the watch but activity
decreased as the radiants moved westward away from our field of view.
One possible July Pegasid was noted during the third hour. It was pretty
darn cool for a July morning (40 F) but the complete lack of mosquitoes
and transparent sky were a good tradeoff.
