Probably my brightest meteor was a daylight fireball in 1986 that must have
been -15 or so. 
The next occasion that a meteor may have been that bright for me was the
famous Taurid on 17 november 1995 from Spain. (the one of which we recorded
the sonic booms).
A -10 appeared a year later. But in honesty, I guess that anything brighter
than -10 is difficult to estimate. I think that an estimate like -19 should
be mentioned as near -20.
