I suspect this is because most of my "dark meteors" are actually bats, birds or bugs: so when I see one pass in front of the moon, I can actually SEE its silhouette, and forget all about noting it as a meteor... ? This is not to say ALL "dark meteors" must be terrestial, BTW. Clear skies! Lew
