(meteorobs) There really are metors!
Accidental meteor observations- Went out tonite (October 13-14) to
observe asteroid Pallas which is near Psi 1-Aquarii for a couple of days
but 80+% cloud cover nixed that idea. An opening towards the east of
Saturn looked promising so scanned with binocs from 0230-0247UTC. Saw 2
probable October Arietids. First yellow color mag 4, short path from E
to NE, a slow meteor. Second, green color, long path from E to SSE,
slow speed, probably mag1 since it backlighted the cloud cover and was
easily visible without the binocs. Unfortunately clouded out totally at
0255 so had to give it up but a nice surprise for a few minutes.
Score:
2 OAR 1-+4 1- +1 limiting mag from about +5 in
spots to zilch!
What are "clear skies"?
