RE: (meteorobs) Light Pollution
Very interesting report, Mark. This was summarized in an Environmental News
Network release last week, which CNN and others picked up, but the full
report is much more... Ahemmm enlightening. :-O Copied the addresss over to
the DarkSky list. Good ammo, for those other than here in the Northeast,
where they seem to have thrown in the towel.

I know that some of us, me included, often observe from local, state or
federal parks, forests and wildlife refuges. The National Park Service
recently participated in a study sponsored by the National Parks and
Conservation Association (NPCA) in which the parks were asked to respond to
several questions dealing with light pollution and their specific park. A
large majority of the parks responded, and the NPCA just released the
results publicly about a week ago.
If you are interested in their findings, and recommendations to the Park
Service, a copy of the report "Vanishing Night Skies" is online at their
