(meteorobs) Observation Apr 15/16 1999
Thursday, April 15/16 was the last clear night in Ottawa before clouds
rolled in for the weekend. I observed at Casselman for 2 hours, starting
just after local midnight. Activity was not bad with a total of 17 meteors
plotted. Virginids were once again active, and 2 out of the 3 seen came
from the anthelion radiant. The other one aligned well with the IMO
radiant. While looking at my plots the next day, I realized one slow
velocity meteor aligned well with the Alpha Bootids. Also, the highlight
for the night was my first Lyrid of 99. It was a nice one too...a deep blue
magnitude 0 between Hercules and Serpens. The plot shows it well aligned
with the radiant.
I probably won't observe again until at least Wednesday night, for the
Lyrids peak. The weather is not too promising yet, but it is still a bit
early to know.
Clear skies!
Pierre
