(meteorobs) Iridium Bankruptcy
First of all, the Iridium consortium hasn't yet filed for bankruptcy. It is only one of the steps they are considering. If they do file, it will be for protection against creditors only, and they are not going to walk away from the business. The likley scenario is that they will reorganize, build up the ground end of the business, and go on from there. The worst case is that they will indeed go bankrupt, but you can bet that the court will make sure the assets (satellites) are sold to someone else. In other words, the sky won't be coming down for a little while. I'm far more worried about the older junk that is up there.
