(meteorobs) Meteor Obs. - Sep. 10/11, 11/12, 1999
Well, we had beautifully clear skies at the Astronomy Weekend Star Party
at Blackwater Falls state park in West Virginia this past weekend. When I
could pull myself away from our new 20-inch Dob, I was able to get four hours
of meteor observing total for two nights. Activity from the Alpha Triangulids
was moderate to low, but nine, mostly faint ones were seen. Activity was also
seen from the Delta Aurigids (Sept. Perseids), Southern Piscids, and the new
radiant in Tauris (I call them Sept. Taurids). Sporadic activity was pretty
high too. A nice -8 magnitude Kappa Aquarid fireball was seen at 1:32 UT on
Sept. 10/11, that was blue-white, cast a shadow, and flared twice. No train
was noticed. Comet Lee was seen in binoculars, and was about 8th magn.
