(meteorobs) Sighting, Raleigh NC USA, 05:00 EDT 18 Sep 1999

The following sounds very suspiciously like a wayward firework, but it
is worth reporting anyway (as a possible electrophonic sound). Note that
the witnesses are not subscribers to 'meteorobs': if you wish to reply,
be sure to MANUALLY place 'DEFIANTJH@cs.com' in the "CC:" line of your
response. Clear skies, -Lew Gramer

About 5:00AM today, I was awakened by a sizzling sound and some loud pops.
Through our window, my wife and I saw a greenish-blue "explosion." Some of
our neighbors and us rushed outside to see what might have caused it.
Visibility was unlimited, the air temp was about 52 degrees, and the flash
appeared to have been west-south-west of our home. Could this have been a
very close call with a meteor? We live in Raleigh, NC.
