(meteorobs) GIA maximum inactive from Hawaii.
Hello list,
Thanks to the quick notices by Takema and Marco of some early
GIA, it encouraged me to attempt an observing session the peak
night around ~09:00 UT Oct 08, despite poor weather conditions
here in Hawaii. I first went to my usual "dark" site, but the weather
was really bad, with only a few holes in the clouds and rain. I did
try about 0.75 hr Teff, but saw only one sporadic meteor. (I guess
this obs is of slight value, because at least it rules out a bright
storm of GIA around 07:00 UT!) Seeing no improvement in this
area, I drove to Palehua, and found somewhat better conditions
with usable LM, and conducted a full 1 hr Teff. NO GIA WERE
SEEN, out of a total of 6 meteors from 09:33 - 10:36 UT.
Granted my conditions were not so good, but I saw no evidence of
GIA activity around the predicted peak time.
