(meteorobs) Re: Videos of Moon during Leonids



Dear Mr. Young and All,

Due to the geometric configuration of the Earth and moon this year there
is virtually no possibility of seeing a Leonid striking the lunar
surface. The reason for this is that a last quarter moon in November
lies in the direction of the Leonid radiant. Therefore the Leonids will
approach the Earth from the same direction as the moon. Any Leonids that
collide with the moon will strike it on the far side which is
unfortunately invisible from the Earth.

You could try anyway and if you are extremely lucky capture a Taurid or
a stray sporadic meteor!
