I remember seeing them in the movie too. Does anyone have a copy of the
movie that you could play in slow motion or frame by frame? That could help
figure out if real or staged.

Speilberg likes putting meteors in his movies. They are in Close Encounters and ET, and even in the beginning credits of his Amazing Stories TV series. I think Forrest Gump also had a meteor or two. It seems his night skies have to have a meteor in them. Wish it was always that way for us!
