THE PERSEID METEOR SHOWER: The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks this
year on August 12th. Get your students ready for the shower with the
kid's story "Catch a Shooting Star." Lessons include Sky Orienteering to
find the Perseid radiant, a meteor coloring book, and reading lessons that
reveal the differences between meteors, meteoroids, and their parents --
comets. Even better, whip up some Falling Star French Toast for a long
night of observing! Click here for lessons:

ALIEN VOLCANOES: Earth isn't the only planet in our solar system with
volcanoes. On August 6th NASA's Galileo probe will fly over the most
volcanic world of all -- Jupiter's moon Io. Learn more about volcanoes on
other worlds in the kid's story "Volcanoes in Outer Space?" Lessons
include Hot Lava Poetry, Volcano Jeopardy, and a giant planet Pizza Party!
