Re: (meteorobs) definition of terms

Can only go with what I've gleaned from past usage and effective
communication with
amateur comrades. Since my meteor and meteor shower observing starts around
1967 I am not gonna change my observing lexicon any day or night soon!
A "train" is the aft streak of a shooting star in progress.
A "trail" is the remaining after glow of material and/ or ionization left
when the meteor
is extinguished.
"wake" is a term I've never used, but I would say, the wake is the irregular
and changing pattern of a long lived trail affected by conditions in the
upper atmosphere.
Either way I think its always important to have terms to describe the various
aspects
or stages of observed phenomenon!
                                                                     Thanks!
