About 30 years ago the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society
at Allentown, Pennsylvania built a platform with a safety rail about
4 or 5 meters high, so they would have a good view above the
surrounding trees at their observatory at Pulpit Rock. They had a
very active youth meteor observing group. I don't know if the platform
is in use, I think that it was taken down some years ago.
