Description:
I was fortunate enough to observe at the Ultimate Star Party some years ago
and had use of Tom and Jeannie Clark's 36inch f/5 for several nights. This
night in particular was excellent. The Eskimo Nebula has been a favorite of
mine for many years and the view of this object in a large aperture scope
was fabulous! It was bright, large, round and the central star was obvious
at 240X. There is a dark ring that surrounds the central star and several
dark markings within the nebula that define the "face" of the Eskimo. The
outer nebulosity that is the "fur" on the "hood" is pretty easy. The entire
nebula is a lovely dark green color with a silvery star in the center. The
face of the Eskimo is obvious once you orient your head correctly to see
a human face with a fur hood surrounding it. A very memorable observation.
