Category: planetary nebula
Constellation: LIB
Object data: Vmag=11.6; Bmag=12.0; dim.7"x7"; type II PN; central star of
Vmag=16.03; discovered by Merrill in 1942; ELCAT: [OIII, 496+501nm] = 19
(!!!) x [Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 15h22.3m, -23°38' (2000); Uranometria 334

Description: at 125x, quasi-stellar object, bright PN; nice stellar
(point-like) spectra with the 3-prisms device at 80x; about mag11; somewhat
fuzzier at 145x and much more nebulous at 290x than a nearby mag11 star at
1'W; diameter estimated to be less than 20".

I can provide a scanned drawing of Me 2-1 to anyone who can read the binhex
encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
