Description:
Southern pleiades... similar to Steve Coe's observation except the
stars seemed brighter to me, than he reported. Huge, open cluster not
as bright as the Pleides. Shaped much like a Santa-Claus hat with
scrutiny, as strings of stars come to a point in the north. Took up
several degrees of the sky. Continues to frame Eta Carina as Steve Coe
mentioned. This is to the south of eta by 4d. NGC3766 is to the
east-southeast (small, bright, tight), northeast is ngc3532 (large,
bright, dense), and northwest is ngc3293 (or IC2581) small, tight,
bright
