(IAAC) M 27 (NGC 6853) - 56mm binoculars

Constellation: VUL
Object data: Vmag=7.4; Bmag=7.6; diam.=>348" (480"x350" in IDB with outer
halo of 830"); type III+II; central star of Vmag=13.8 (with V=17.0
companion at 6"S); discovered by Messier in 1764; ELCAT: [OIII, 496+501nm]
= 14 x [Hbeta, 486nm] (note an oustanding [OII] flux at 372nm but maybe too
blue for human vision?].
RA/DE: 19h59.56m, +22°43.3' (2000.0)
Date and UT of observation: 03 August 1994, 22h45 UT
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual with averted vision in UMi): 6.3
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 1.5
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): ?
Moon up (phase?): no
Instrument: Binoculars 56mm

Description: smal nebulous patch, quite apparent when you know where to
look for.

I can provide a scanned drawing of M27 to anyone who can read the binhex
encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try (yann.pothier@fnac.net),
it works quite often with other configurations...
